The more things change the more they stay they same.
When my folks first "discovered" the ski area and Durango in the late 1960's, it changed the whole course of my childhood..... One visit convinced them that buying Durango real estate was not only a sound financial investment but an important component in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Creating ever-lasting memories and enjoying life was what my parents (raising 4 little girls!) dreamed about, so they took that first step in buying a second/vacation property, and have owned in Durango ever since. Growing up in Albuquerque, it was an easy commute to Durango to enjoy holidays, summer camping, and long weekends. I still remember my first ski trip to Purgatory. While I didn't actually ski because I was only two, the excitement of catching snowflakes on our eyelashes, giggling and frolicking in the snow, was unforgettable. Now I am blessed to live, work, play and raise my own family here in the Durango mountain and resort community.
While we've seen a great deal of expansion and development over the years, Purgatory, (Durango Mountain Resort) has continued to offer an easily accessible, warm and friendly, community profile steeped in the culture of the American west with unlimited recreational opportunity. That’s just part of what makes Purgatory and Durango real estate so exclusive and in demand. You'll find everything from custom-built estates, to historic log cabins in the woods, and seemingly endless wide open spaces; plus all the amenities and services offered at many larger Colorado resort areas. To this, add over 300" of snow, and 300+ days of sunshine annually, and you'll discover that Durango and Purgatory really do have it all!
